Question by : Can Gimp vector render an image?
To my limited knowledge, Gimp cannot vectorized an image. I’m wondering if maybe, I just have not found out how to do this, or if A plug-in is available that would give gimp this ability. Gimp already have a pen tool, which is one way adobe products can be used to create vector images. It would seem that they whould have a vector image option, or tool but, so far I have not been able to find one in the program. I have Gimp 2.6. Operating systems both window 7 and XP. I also have Linux Ubuntu.

I know Adobe Illustrator has live trace, and live paint, which instantly converts any image into vector. But I don’t have the funds to buy Adobe currently. I would greatly prefer not using a torrent. I also like using open source programs when ever possible.

Afraid not. GIMP is strictly raster.

You’re best option is to download the 30 day trail version of Adobe Illustrator and use live trace.

Question by apple boy: Whats this Adobe Flex ?
Flex!! Its been killing me from past 3 to 4 weeks. Finally I decided to spend my 5 points.

I recently configured Flex SDK in my Ubuntu and even able to execute a hello.as( i got from net) program in terminal.

My questions are:-

–> What is Flex ? Is it only a SDK (or IDE) or is Flex a programming language too like HTML or action script ?

–> If Flex is only a tool(IDE OR SDK) what programming language we use to develop web pages in this tool ? Do we use actionscript ? or mxml ? or just xml? or both ?

Question by jkrrv: Apache won’t serve PHP as HTTP?
I’m teaching myself the art of web-serving as I teach myself the art of web-mastering. I’m running a Linux Ubuntu server with Webmin in place of a standard GUI. I used the Webmin package update tool to update 40-some updates, including about 5 Apache-oriented ones. Immediately after, I updated my version of Ubuntu (to 9.10).

Since then, I have been unable to get PHP files from my server. When I type in a correct URL for a PHP document, the browser (doesn’t matter which) pops up the standard download options window. From those options, I opened the file up in Notepad and noticed that the PHP script is properly assembled, it’s just not being delivered as HTTP. What can I do?

This is only a problem for PHP files. Every other format works fine.
PHP is installed and runs. As I said, the PHP script compiles perfectly fine.

I’m looking for something a little more specific than “check the file”. What do I check for?

You don’t have php installed. Check the Apache config file.

Question by mark.noyce: My computer has some serious problems, can anyone help?
This is a long story, hold tight. First off, my computer got a virus that my security program couldn’t detect and remove so I thought I would reformat my hard drive, using system disks I had made myself using my computers recovery centre. All my attempts to reformat my hard drive failed, and I really needed a working computer so I decided to just install Ubuntu on it, which would wipe the hard drive. I was planning on contacting the computer manufacturer once it was up and running again to ask them to send me a system disk, as one was not included when I got my laptop. Installing Ubuntu was successful, and the problem has been solved, but now I’m stuck with Ubuntu. After I installed it, I remembered I had a copy of a Vista OS which I got with an old laptop, but now when I try and install Windows I get an error message because it can’t install on that type of drive, so I tried using the tool to reformat it into a drive that could be recognized and have Windows put on it, but then I got another error message, coincidentally the same one I got when I tried to format my hard drive the first time round. Is there a way to get round all this and get Windows on my laptop or should I just give up and take it to a repair shop? I can’t remember the name of the error exactly but there were a lot of zeroes. I’ll find out and then add it to the question as extra info if people think knowing the name of the error will help.
I’m not that surprised it didn’t make much sense, I kinda internet babbled, anyway the specific error is “error:0×90004005″

A lot of what you said does not make sense to me, maybe I’ll a little dense. The Vista disc should work unless it’s computer specific. If it’s a Dell, throw the POS in the garbage. Check to see what a new hard drive costs along with a WinBloze disc. It may be the best way to get rid of all the crap that may be on your existing HD.

Question by Ibo C: Win 7 Internet Security 2012?
So i just got this i believe it was something i downloaded. I looked up removal and have had system tool before so i know a few basics. I am running avast and just installed and ran a scan with super anti software. It came up with a lot of things like 1000. most where just like cookies or something like that that wasn’t that big of a deal. 1 was something i have no idea about and another was a false-positive i know for sure.
i unchecked the false positive and let the rest get fixed/quarantined.
i did NOT do the reboot yet because avast is still scanning. It takes a while because i was screwing around with installing Ubuntu and the long story short i made a backup of everything and had to re-install everything along side with the backup. I don’t even know why i still have the backup. So either way, i still have Win 7 Internet Security 2012 doing pop-ups regularly. I just installed spyware doctor because i used that to get rid of system tool which seemed very similar. Will this be gone after the reboot? Will i need to reformat my hdd or get it repaired? What to do?
Am i ForeverAlone?
All jokes aside what to do?
I can boot into Ubuntu and backtrack if that helps, i know a few things about cpu’s but very novice skill level.
I am in need of a pretty easy and detailed tutorial. The pop-ups aren’t very serious yet so yeah.
also notice in ::Win 7 Internet Security 2012:: the 2012… shouldn’t it say 2011, just saying.

Update for anyone who is willing to help…
after a 2 hour long scan avast found 1 thing and i moved it to the vault. About to reboot. Spyware Doc kept freezing. I don’t think it worked though…
Update
Fixed it with Avast. It did a scan upon boot up and found 1 infected windows file. I deleted it and windows started up. It said it wasn’t genuine (although it is) i activated it or something and I’m good.
